Part-Time Care Officer

RESPONSIBLE TO: Manager/Assistant Manager  of the Residential Home

​

OBJECTIVE: To supervise and be part of the establishment’s care team in order to meet the social, emotional and physical needs of the residents. To foster and maintain a caring and happy atmosphere and high standards of care within the home and at the same time to ensure the effective utilisation of all resources i.e. manpower and materials within the policies of the Trust.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Diploma in Health & Social Care level 3, formerly NVQ 3, or working towards this certificate

HOURS: Various shifts Monday - Sunday

 

RATE OF PAY: To be discussed at interview

HOURS: 96 hours per month

Important Note:

Care Officers should under no circumstances become involved with financial or legal matters with or on behalf of residents or their relatives and should not witness a will or any other official document. Any such requests should be referred to the Manager of the Residential Home.

 

Confidentiality must be maintained at all times.

Responsibilities and General Duties

 

  • To be responsible for the general running of the shift and to supervise junior staff.

  • To be responsible for residents’ medication and/or treatment.

  • Providing cover for the Manager and/or Assistant Manager, and supporting junior staff.

  • General welfare of staff whilst on duty adhering to the Health and Safety at work Act and Fire Regulations and to be familiar with Fire Procedure.

  • Ensuring well being of individual residents to cover emotional and social needs such as talking with and listening to residents and encouraging participation in the Home’s activities.

  • Assisting with dressing,  washing, bathing of residents and attending to all personal physical needs when necessary.

  • Assisting with bed making – care of linen and clothing when necessary.

  • Serving meals and assisting residents where necessary.

  • Participation in staff meetings and any in service training.

  • Reporting any unforeseen incidents or accidents immediately to the Manager of the Residential Home.

  • Observing and reporting any change in residents’ condition and complaints from residents.

  • Care of residents’ property and valuables and to be aware of correct procedure.

  • To undertake such other duties as may be requested by the Manager of the Residential Home.

Part-Time - Weekend Care Assistant

RESPONSIBLE TO: Manager  of the Residential Home

​

OBJECTIVE: Be part of the establishment’s care team in order to meet the social, emotional and physical needs of the residents. To foster and maintain a caring and happy atmosphere and high standards of care within the home. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Level 2 Diploma or (NVQ) Health and Social Care

​

HOURS: Various shifts Saturday - Sunday

 

RATE OF PAY: To be discussed at interview

​

HOURS: 36 hours per month but additional maybe required to cover sickness and holidays. 

Responsibilities and General Duties
